May 21 - May 23, 2010

Second Day

We reach Vang Vieng at about 3.00pm. very hungry. very tired after 4 hours in the bus. the weather is hot. dehydrated- we decide not to drink because there is no proper toilet along the way. but if you took express bus/VIP bus/minivan for tourist they will stop at a proper RNR.

At Nazim's Vang Vieng.
Nora and Harith waiting for their foods.

Here, were addicted to fruit blended . My favorite is mango with banana.

Again......under the hot sunshine we walking along the street to find an affordable guest house.

people here was not aggressive.
they leave the freedom for us to choose.

Tourist spot at Vang Vieng.
this will be very happening at night.

We stay at Bansuan Riverview Bungalow.
After bargain awhile : we manage to get 70 000 kip for three days and two night.
this price is depending on season.
there are too many guesthouse here.
everybody compete to offer best price. good for tourist.

our place is very nice place. behind the river and it is feels like in the tropica jungle.
they plant bunga kantan, bunga nasi kerabu and etc.
they also plant a lot of cheerry plant.

Azrul's trademark.
At our guesthouse.

in front of our guest house.
kids play with the water. fishing.

Vientiane: revisited

Laos: Jewel of the Mekong

Vientiane

First day. May 20, 2010 -- Azrul Birthday

We arrived at Vientiane at 4.30pm Laos time. the weather is very hot. this time is not like the first time we were here.

Mekong riverside is still under construction.

We took a taxi to the city center, area Fa ngum Road,Ban Watchan.
Looking for a guest house with a reasonable price.

Decided to stay at Youth Inn. Just 5 minutes walking distance to the riverside. and most important near to Nazim restaurant. other than Nazim, Fathimah restaurant and Ali restaurant also offer Halal food.
but other place is not strategic as Nazim's.

Me: Walking along the Mekong River

Delicious seafood with a special sauce and special smell. Yummm yummm

Variety of ethic purse...handmade.
Compare to Luang Prabang. here is much expensive.
Here about 25 000kip per perse but you can get three for 50 000 kip.

If you buy...
Nature pay...
creative. they paint a variety of Buddha picture on the tortoise shell.

Cute puppy for show...
Oppps ni dah samak ke nih?

Budget of the day:
Taxi from Wattey International Airport to city center = 6 usd (fixed price).
Dinner = 27 000 Kip
Hostel = 80 000Kip
Purse = 25 000Kip

Second Day

8.00 in the morning. took a tuk-tuk to the local bus station. which is near to Talat Sao, morning market. take a local bus to Vang -Vieng.

Ticket from Vientiane to Vang Vieng ranges from 30 000kip to 50 000kip depending on what type of bus you want to choose.

Our guesthouse offer 45 000kip for minivan. and the minivan will stop at a proper RNR.
but we want something advanture, so take a local bus. which is 30 000kip + tuk-tuk 15 000kip and the RNR is amazing.

Vientiane to Vang Vieng is about 167km. it's takes 4 hours.

Life is so Fragile

Life is just a matter of time,
bad thing and good thing
it is our perception

when the time come...
life would be perfect
life would be wonderful

pray hard to Allah
hopefully the perfect time and wonderful time
will be come soon

Cambodia, Phenom Pehn
Middle of June 2009.

We treat Phenom Pehn as our honeymoon. very interesting place to explore.the culture.the people. and the place itself.
It is far from my imagination.it is beyond me. be there and feel it by yourself. and these will answer many questions.

What i can say is, some people are very lucky. they got everything without doing nothing.

I love foods. but I afraid to try all the food served here.

This is very short trip. I hope I can be there again. although we were being cheated every time and everywhere.

Boredom May Also Be Joy

Most of the time joy was from the unexpected things. Things that are not in the itinerary but eventually happen, either due to poor planning or some help from above to change the boredom to beauty.

I found sitting on the bench near the Jam Gadang was one of the surprises. Fit to describe how boredom may at times has beauty in it. The towering Dutch building nearing sunset was beautiful. The buskers provided the soundtrack, singing an unknown melody. The drizzles softened tense afternoon and the kids who travelled three hours to the highlands were joyful to see. They were all added up to be a beautiful moment.

In fact, I am grateful for the boredom inflicted upon me that day. Seeing a place, the second time around, gave depth to the touristy little place. Boredom gave better lens for us to see beyond the obvious happiness.
